中国化学会于1979年12月7日至11日在昆明召开普及工作会议。全国学会、地方学会和出版社共有32人参加。会议由王序教授致开幕词,并介绍了日本科普工作情况,沈松源同志传达了中国科协普及工作会议精神,并由各地方学会交流科普工作经验,讨论全国性的科普工作如何组织和开展。会议认为当前为实现我国四个现代化,建设伟大的社会主义强国,迅速地极大地提高整个中华民族的科学文化水平,是我国面临的一项重要的战略任务。化学是一门基础学科,它的知识和应用涉及到人类活动的各个领域。中国化学会既担负着学术上的交流工作,又担负着化学知识的普及任务。会议讨论了化学科普工作委员会的性质、主要任务、对象和内容、 Chinese Chemical Society in December 7, 1979 to 11 in Kunming, held a universal working conference.
