Large Canadian aluminum mills use aluminum multiconductor cables instead of conventional 700 volt bus bars to supply aluminum cells. This eliminates the need for cumbersome bending, cutting, drilling, and pinching of the busbars, greatly reducing excessive connection points due to the long lines and easily making various kinds of crossovers. As a result, initial investment of 10-20% can be saved. The total current capacity of the tank is 100000A, and 18 conductors are laid. Each conductor has a capacity of 6700-7500A and an aluminum cross section of 2840mm2. One set (Figure 1), assembled with aluminum cushioning braces and stainless steel bands, each with a maximum length of 28 meters.
