By chance, I read the original short story published in 1982, the third issue of the historical novel “Dawn.” The original text was published in No. 4, 1980, “The Literary Monthly” of the Soviet Union, with a short space spanning from the end of 1918 to March and April of 1919. At that time, the young Soviet regime faced the armed interventions by foreign countries and the rampant attacks by the domestic white bandits. Food was held in the hands of the rich peasants and Moscow and Petersburg were hungry. In this historical context, this short story describes Lenin’s daily actions and plans to lay the foundation for the victory of the East’s front and paves the way for the smooth development of the entire war situation. The original rigorous structure, echoed before and after, narrative into the feelings.
