The following two articles are translated from InfoWorld, a back-to-back appearance of two different perspectives on the state of the Internet. Bob Metcalfe made a striking prediction of the collapse of the Internet in 1996 in a column on December 4, 1995, and since then he has described in advance various possible scenarios - for example, the TCP / IP architecture Poor handling of overloads, slow server and packet loss in 1996 caused World Wide Wait on the Internet .... Bob’s prophecies aroused people’s interest and attention. At a December IDG global conference in December of 1996, we met him and hoped to hear his “statement” on the prophecy of the Internet collapse. He did not elaborate at the meeting, but it was fully described in two columns later published by InfoWorld, one of which is below. He spoke very briefly at the meeting that he proposed that the Internet would collapse instead of “die,” with the intention of drawing attention. In fact, he has been trying to make the industry attach importance to taking measures to overcome this situation. Scott Bradner, a consultant at Harvard’s Office of Information Technology, whose views differ from those of Bob, makes us “easy to understand.” Internet has rapidly emerged in the country, it brings people never experience before. However, the situation Bob describes may be able to prepare us for the gap between theory and reality and do practical work. The third article addresses the issue of cybersquatting on the Internet, which has drawn the attention of domestic and international industry and is studying a positive response.
