Dresden, the capital of Germany’s Saxony state and the third-largest city in the country, has become an important cultural, political and economic center in southeastern Germany. On August 22, 2012, the Auto Tram Extra Grand, a rubber-tired, multi-unit new bus, made its debut in the public eye of the city for the first time. Its length exceeds 98 feet (about 29.87 meters) and combines the advantages of buses and trams for up to 256 people (Figure 1). According to the plan, the new bus was put into operation in the fall of 2012 after being safely tested in the streets of Dresden and became the longest bus in the world. To meet the demand, the original bus station has been expanded.
