把合金元素加入像硬面铁轧辊这样精細的鑄件中,必須要十分小心的;因為鑄件白口的深度,是由各個不同因素凑合而成的結果。加入一種合金元素,有時會被另一因素而抵消了。為了增加硬度,使鑄件有抵抗摩擦侵蝕的能力,鉻是比較最適當的合金元素。因為鉻有稳定炭化物的作用,使之铁與炭結成炭化物,增加白口的深度。這種穩定炭化物的作用,足以抵消矽對炭化物所起之分解作用。
Care must be taken to add alloying elements to the fine castings such as hard-face iron rolls; the depth of the white castings is the result of a combination of different factors. Adding an alloying element can sometimes be offset by another factor. In order to increase the hardness and make the castings resistant to friction and erosion, chromium is the most suitable alloying element. Because chromium has a stabilizing effect of carbonization, making it iron and carbon into carbon compounds, increasing the depth of white mouth. This stabilizing char is sufficient to counteract the decomposition of silicon by the char.
