田径运动与其他竞技运动相比田径运动的历史最长,田径运动的发展为其它运动项目的发展奠定了基础。其次,很多运动项目都离开不开跑、跳、投等动作的基本训练,都需要速度、力量、耐力、柔韧和灵敏等身体素质。而田径运动能有效和全面地发展人的各种身体素质。因此,很多竞技项目都把田径运动作为身体训练的重要手段,使田径运动作为其他活动基础的研究也是热点之一。
