岩爆和地震概念颇为类似。两种现象都是岩体的相对移动引起地震能的猛烈释放。在多数情况下这些相对移动都出现于原有的地质不连续面。就地震而言,应力聚集引起最后破坏是数十年甚至几个世纪地壳移动的结果。就岩爆而论,应力聚集是由于开采活动引起的,而且应力聚集的时间并不长。能量的最终释放是相同的,从地震记录图识别地震和岩爆有很大的困难,也可以认为地震和岩爆的预报问题基本相同。
Rockburst and earthquake concepts are quite similar. Both phenomena are the relative movement of rock mass causing the violent release of seismic energy. In most cases, these relative movements occur in the original geological discontinuities. In the case of an earthquake, the final destruction caused by stress concentration is the result of crustal movement over decades and centuries. In the case of rockbursts, stress build-up is caused by mining activity and the stress build-up time is not long. The final energy release is the same. It is very difficult to identify earthquakes and rockbursts from seismograms. It is also believed that the prediction of earthquakes and rockbursts is basically the same.
