根据大学英语教学大纲要求,理工科大学英语课的教学目的是不同程度地培养学生的语言技能,重点是培养学生的阅读能力。要进行国际交流,要学习外国的科技,学生们就得尽好地掌握外语阅读技能。中国学生所获得的外语语言信息,绝大多数是通过学习精读而得来的。虽然学生们有强大的内在动力,花费许多时间想学好外语,但是他们的听说能力之差却令人吃惊。即使是他们自己认为较强的阅读能力,也不尽教师和他们本人的意。
According to the requirements of college English syllabus, the teaching purpose of English classes in science and engineering universities is to cultivate students ’language skills to different degrees, with the emphasis on cultivating students’ reading ability. To conduct international exchanges, to learn foreign science and technology, students must have a good grasp of foreign language reading skills. The vast majority of foreign language information obtained by Chinese students comes from studying intensive reading. Although students have a strong internal motivation and spend a lot of time trying to learn a foreign language, the difference between their listening and speaking abilities is surprising.
