钴与镍是性质很相似的过渡金属,它们之间的分离一般采取溶剂萃取法,如在高浓度氯化物溶液中用N-235能很好的达到分离。但在硫酸溶液中,由于Co~(2+)和Ni~(2+)是以阳离子形式或水合阳离子形式存在,因此它们的分离比较困难。曾经研究过用P_(204)来进行萃取,但分离系数比较低。近年来发现一种新的高效分离Co、Ni萃取剂——P_(507),它不仅适用Co/Ni比广泛变化的硫酸盐、硝酸盐和氯化物溶液,而且对于含有Cu、Fe、Zn等元素存在时也能分离。本文应用量子化学观点分析P_(50)萃取分离Co、Ni的
