Rockwell International Missile Systems Division has developed an outfield portable infrared imager capable of obtaining 128 x 128 and 256 x 256 images at 60 Hz. The system has successfully demonstrated various ground targets and airborne tactical targets. The gaze array used is a mid-wave infrared HgCdTe hybrid device operating in the range of 4.4-4.8 [mu] m. The multiplexer is silicon and is a CMOS FET switching FET device. The array is packaged in a laboratory dewar for operation at 80K, with a corresponding NETD of 0.03K. The array has been thermally cycled 40 times or more between room temperature and 80K. The optical part of the system consists of a lens with f / number = 2 and a clear aperture of 20.32 cm, with an instantaneous field of view of 128 x 128 at 0.29 mrad and an instantaneous field of view of 256 x 256 at 0.2 mrad, From the smallest 1.626ms change to 3.352ms.
