A woman’s home is her castle. She usually cleans, cooks, decorates, rearranges, repairs, works, plays and relaxes within the walls of her home. Sometimes women choose to stay home to raise their children instead of working outside. So you think she must be bored. I was one of those women.
After finally getting pregnant, surviving the pregnancy and birth, I found my home to be a haven. For a long time I was healing physically, emotionally and mentally. My body had been to hell and back during the nine months I carried my daughter. Being able to relax was just what my weakened body needed. Plus, nursing was a breeze because I was unhurried and very comfortable. Staying home definitely healed my broken body.
Watching other families grow one child after the next was a nightmare when I didn’t think I would ever be able to have my own child. People sometimes said the most unkind and thoughtless things to me. After having Amy, I was able to let my heart heal from the wounds. I watched and valued at every small change of her body and personality. Nothing was more exciting or fulfilling than times spent with my child.
Mentally I remained challenged with new opportunities every day. I learned to be perfect and extremely organized homemaker. Everything ran like clockwork. By 9:00 in the morning, the house was clean—beds made, bathrooms cleaned, house vacuumed, windows cleaned, laundry going. I enjoyed all the tasks that made my home sparkle and shine, but finished them quickly so that I could dedicate most of the day to my daughter. Between nursing, naps and staring at her, I thought of ways to improve my home and myself. Even with all the chores, every day was filled with so much fun. 24. Many homes today are equipped with security cameras to warn the owners if someone is moving in their houses or gardens. French company Netatmo has designed a smart home camera. It can recognize familiar faces and warn owners if a stranger has entered their home.
“Current security cameras are not that smart. They can tell you if something is moving but they don’t necessarily know whether it’s a stranger or it’s your kid; they don’t know the difference. So, they will remind you all the time, also if lighting conditions change and it can be very annoying,”explained the manager of Netatmo.
When family members enter a home, the smart camera“recognizes”them and sends information to the owner’s cellphone. The owner can check the information at a convenient time. But if a thief enters a home, the camera will send a warning that will sound an alarm on the owner’s cellphone.
That’s what happened recently to smart home camera owner Damien in Paris.
“On a Friday I was at work. When my cellphone rang, it told me that there was a movement in my house and also a face that the app did not recognize,”said Damien.
So the French businessman turned on the video and was shocked at what he saw.
“I saw a person I did not know with his shoes on, which is totally forbidden in my home. I was watching it live on video. So I felt totally frozen. I asked a colleague to take me back home as fast as possible and I called the police on the way,”he said. In the end, the thief was sentenced to nine months in prison.
28. Through current security cameras, we can know.

C. if somebody is a stranger or not
D. if the lights need to be turned on
29. A smart home camera willwhen it sees a stranger in the home.

B. inform the owner by sending a text message to the owner’s cellphone
C. get in contact with the police at once
D. send a warning to the owner’s cellphone
30. The example of Damien aims to show.
A. smart home cameras can protect owners from being hurt
B. current security cameras work better than smart home cameras
C. smart home cameras can not work unless they are connected to a cellphone
D. smart home cameras can protect people’s belongs from being stolen
31. The underlined word in the last paragraph is closest to the meaning of.
A. aliveB. living

Do you know a selfie queen? Or are you unable to go a day without taking pictures of yourself in a different location? But now scientists have warned those who take pictures of themselves too frequently are more likely to be lonely. It could also be a sign of trouble in their relationships or mental health problems, experts found.
Researchers in Thailand gathered 300 students and looked at how often they took pictures of themselves. They were mostly females aged between 21 and 24. They were interviewed to see if they had attentionseeking, self-centered behaviour or loneliness characteristics. Most of them spent more than 50 percent of their spare time on either their mobile phone or the Internet.
Experts believe both men and women who feel lonely tend to take more selfies to seek attention from other people.
Lead researcher, Dr Martin Longman said:“People who are deeply into taking selfies tend to feel that their personal lives and mental health are damaged. They may also feel that relationship qualities with others are becoming worse.”
People with higher degrees of loneliness tend to like selfies more. Taking selfies allows people to control what other people see in the photos. It is not surprising that they tend to like selfies, because it helps them achieve this personal goal.
“Many people consider taking selfies to be an enjoyable activity. But those who take selfies should know that some unhealthy behaviour might be linked with this activity.”
Some experts argue that selfie-taking behavior is linked to mental illness. But others say it is less likely to be an addiction, but rather, a form of anxiety.“This could be the reason why people who like to take selfies tend to focus too much on themselves and show less concern about others,”Dr Martin Longman added. 32. What have scientists warned?
A. Those who like taking selfies should take fewer pictures.
B. Those who like taking selfies are more likely to be lonely.
C. Those who have mental problems shouldn’t take selfies.
D. Those who like taking selfies must have bad relationships with others.
33. People who like taking selfies tend to.
A. share their pictures with others
B. pay more attention to their friends
C. spend lots of their spare time on the Internet
D. damage other people’s relationships
34. Why do some people like taking selfies, according to the text?
A. To seek attention.
B. To let others know they are lonely.
C. To show off the way they look.
D. To look for help from others.
35. What do the scientists think of taking selfies?
A. It is a purely enjoyable thing for people to do.
B. People who like doing it must be unhealthy.
C. Anyone who likes doing it tends to focus on themselves.
D. It might be linked with some unhealthy behavior.

When someone new moves into the neighborhood, it’s a good opportunity to make a friend.36So making the first move will be a welcome gesture.
Introduce Yourself and Say Hello
Make the first step by paying a visit to your neighbor.37Just a few minutes, so you don’t completely overwhelm them in the beginning. Once you break the ice, conversations will be easier going forward. Your neighbor will be more apt to ask you things about the area, get restaurant suggestions, or just gab(閑聊)about their day.38They’ll want to know about any new children in the neighborhood they can play with, too. 39
Offer to show them around your area by pointing out the grocery stores, playgrounds, and restaurants. This is an especially good option for introverts, who can enjoy someone on one conversation while you explore your neighborhood. End your tour with a stop at the coffee shop, where you buy them a cup of joe before heading home.
Invite Them to a Community Event
40This will help you welcome the new people on the block and anyone else you haven’t connected with yet. You can do this by having a block party or inviting a group to a community event, farmer’s market, library sale, or something similar.
A. Give them a walking tour.
B. If you have kids, be sure to bring them along. C. Some people feel comfortable inviting new people over for a home-cooked meal.
D. What better way to get closer to the people who live near you than by inviting all your neighbors to an event?
E. Your neighbor will want to get acquainted with everyone and may even be new to the entire city.
F. Make your visit brief at first.
G. Have dinner with them.

第二节
Dear Xu Wei,
I have heard from you. No doubt every senior 3 student wishes to do well in the National College Entrance Examination. Yet what should we do in order to achieve success? Here are some suggestions.
First, it’s vital to have a right attitude, for a normal state of mind and self-confidence not only helps us relax but also enables us to overcome difficulties bravely. Meanwhile, we should have a definite goal and a correct estimation of ourselves. Only in this way will we face everything in life more objectively. Besides, we’d better talk with our parents, teachers or classmates, who may help us out when we are in trouble. Finally, striking a good balance between study and rest keeps us energetic and a healthy diet is useful as well.
With these done, I think we can greatly improve our performance.

Introduce Yourself and Say Hello

Offer to show them around your area by pointing out the grocery stores, playgrounds, and restaurants. This is an especially good option for introverts, who can enjoy someone on one conversation while you explore your neighborhood. End your tour with a stop at the coffee shop, where you buy them a cup of joe before heading home.
Invite Them to a Community Event

第一节
