A new Canadian study shows that babies have better cognitive abilities if they consume more fruit during pregnancy. A survey by Alberta University scientists of Canada’s study on the longitudinal development of healthy infants found that infants 6 to 7 percent higher IQ at 1 year of age should eat 6 to 7 servings of fruit a day. The study looked at data from nearly 700 children in Edmonton, Canada. One of the study authors, Dr. Pushmandhane, called it “substantial difference.” He pointed out that the longer the baby stays in the womb, the better its development. The effect of adding one fruit a day to her mother’s diet is equivalent to the one-week delay in her birth.
