On August 25, 2006, the data released by the National Bureau of Statistics after the conclusion of the 1% population sample survey in China said that at the end of 2005, China’s total population was 1307.56 million. For the first time, the number of people aged 65 and over (aged 65) exceeds 100 million, reaching 100.45 million, accounting for 7.69% of the total population.
