尤金·奥尼尔是美国第一位也是唯一一位获得诺贝尔文学奖的剧作家,他也是最早、最多被中国文人和学者关注和研究的美国剧作家。这不仅因为他在国际上所享有的声誉,也是因为他的作品中所表现出的对中国文化和思想的糅合,道家思想甚至成为他写作的哲学基础之一。这种中国元素在他的多部作品之中都有鲜明的体现。本文从奥尼尔戏剧作品的表现手法、台词、人物塑造和创作理论几个方面论述他作品中的中国元素。
Eugene O’Neill is the first and only playwright in the United States to win the Nobel Prize in literature. He is also the earliest and most influential American playwright to be studied and studied by Chinese scholars and scholars. This is not only because of his internationally acclaimed reputation, but also because of the blend of Chinese culture and thought shown in his work, and Taoist thought has even become one of the philosophical foundations of his writing. This Chinese element is vividly manifested in many of his works. This article discusses the Chinese elements in his works from aspects of performance, lines, characterization and creation of O’Neill’s dramatic works.
