割胶时,橡胶树仅有几个小时的排胶时间。天然橡胶业经济上最重要的先进成就之一,就是在割线下方的树皮上施用乙烯,使排胶延长;更方便的方法是涂某些化合物,这些化合物或者可分解释放出乙烯,或者能促使胶树本身在涂药部位产生更多的内源乙烯。排胶时间延长了,就可以把每日割制改为每2—3日割制。虽然胶乳会比较稀,但干胶总产量却大大增加了。然而迄今为止,关于乙烯刺激排胶的机理仍未弄清,本文提出一个说明排胶机理特征的模式。
