“主流教材”的提出,是新中国成立60多年来,我国基础教育教材从编审合一到编审分开,从一纲一本到一纲多本,从国定制到审定制的教材多样化发展的进一步要求。“主流教材”是指在一定时期内,发行量最大,使用最广泛,受众最认可,权威性最高,影响力最大的那类教学材料(主要指教科书)。主流教材是一个群体而非某一个版本的教材。主流教材应具备以下特征:体现社会的主流价值观;占据较高的教材市场份额;具有公信力和影响力造就的权威性;追求层次化、系列化和立体化;服务良好并发展持续;多样化中显主流。
