The magnitude 8.1 earthquake struck Japan’s Ogasawara Islands on the evening of May 30. The epicenter depth of 682 km, about 40 km square fault up to about 6.6 meters fault. The earthquake took place deep in the earth, leaving a lot of mystery, some Japanese experts are worried about the possibility of even greater earthquakes. The Meteorological Agency said that the magnitude of the fault and the misalignment distance are currently tentative values. At the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, a fault of up to about 30 meters in length was about 450 kilometers long and about 200 kilometers wide. Although the magnitude of the Ogasawara earthquake is relatively small, it occurs at very deep locations and the pressure is very high, so the smaller faults release huge energy and become a magnitude 8.1 earthquake.
