桐柏大别山区不仅矿产资源丰富，而且品种多、储量大，地域组合良好，特别是以化工原料、建材原料、贵重金属、石油和天然气为主的优势矿产资源，在全国占有较为重要的地位。本文在对桐柏大别山区矿产资源深入研究和对市场前景分析预测的基础上，提出了综合开发利用桐柏大别山区优势矿产资源，以资源为依托，建立建材、化工、石油加工等区域工业支柱的对策和加速矿产资源开发利用的措施。
