一把诗歌话语与小说话语摆到一起对照,我们会发现,两者间最突出的差别恐怕要算一为有韵的话语,一为无韵的话语了。的确,凡是诗歌都有韵律(虽有个别不讲韵律的当代诗,但不是诗的主流,属于诗的另类),都要分行书写,而小说则不需要韵律,也不必分行,只要分开段落书写就可以了。但这种差别只是外在表征的差别,还不是内在本质的差别。要寻求这种本质差别,还须进一步追问,为什么小说是无韵的,而诗歌是有韵的?造成这种外在特征差别的根源
