京剧是综合性舞台艺术,随着京剧艺术的发展和创新,特别是新编历史剧和现代戏的发展,在舞台用光的设计上已经十分讲究,在传统用光的基础上大量吸收了话剧、歌舞以及影视的灯光设计,使得今天的京剧舞台用光在烘托舞台气氛、塑造人物等方面取得了可喜的成绩。然而,有些年轻的同志对新编历史剧,特别是现代戏用光方面努力钻研、刻意求新,但对京剧传统戏的用光往往表现得十分冷漠,好像传统戏的用光没有什么可研究和探讨的,从而忽略了传统戏在用光方面
