Since its establishment, the CCP has made it a top priority to include workers in the party. However, the differences in understanding of Chinese society have, to some extent, affected the CCP’s party membership. Intellectuals who came into contact and accepted communism earlier, and young people in particular, occupied a large proportion of the Chinese communists. Therefore, prior to the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, the CCP mainly consisted mainly of intellectuals with workers being the second group, while the peasants had not really entered the ranks of the CCP. During the period from the start of the Kuomintang-Communist cooperation to the pre-May movement, there was no major change in this situation, but the workers’ party members showed an upward trend and peasant party members emerged one after another.
