力学是兼备基础科学和技术科学两重性质的学科,它一方面探索自然界中物质机械运动的基本规律,目前在湍流的机理、材料强度的宏微观研究以至地球内部物质运动等许多方面都还在进行着十分活跃的研究。近代非线性科学发展中的浑沌理论等就是来自力学科学的探讨。它另一方面又是许多工程技术的理论基础,探讨在应用过程中出现的有关机械运动规律。力学和工程技术的密切结合促使工程力学各个分支的形成和发展。
Mechanics is a discipline that combines both basic science and technical science. On the one hand, it explores the basic laws of the movement of matter and machinery in nature. At present, mechanics of turbulence, macroscopical and microscopic research on the strength of materials, and material movement within the Earth are still under way A very active research. The theory of chaos in modern non-linear scientific development comes from the discussion of mechanics science. On the other hand, it is also the theoretical basis of many engineering techniques, and discusses the laws of mechanical motion occurring in the application process. The close combination of mechanics and engineering technology leads to the formation and development of all branches of engineering mechanics.
