March 26 this year marks the 90th anniversary of the death of Whitman (1819-1892), the nation’s first great American democracy poet in the nineteenth century. In memory of this distinguished poet read the remains of his civil war, will be particularly profound. The war started in April 1861 was a civil war between the bourgeois-dominated states of North America and the southern states of the slave-owners, aiming to overthrow the southern slave-owners’ rule in Washington and abolish the slave system. After four years of hard work, it finally smashed the insurrection of the slave-owners, liberated the blacks and upheld the federal unification, opening up a vast road for the development of U.S. capitalism.
