Adelaide Port is an important area of Adelaide city, was identified in 1982 as a state cultural heritage sanctuary. Its fortunes rise and fall as the economy of Adelaide grows. Although many historic elements have passed away, the delineation of the Adelaide State Cultural Heritage Reserve provides the conditions for the effective management of future developments while preserving the important historic elements of the region.
