大型建筑物的基坑开挖过程中,往往需要降水。目前国内常用的降水井点大体可分两类:一类为小井点,包括轻型井点、电渗井点和喷射井点;另一类为管井井点。所谓轻型井点,就是在基坑四周埋设一定数量带有过滤器的井点管,管口由管汇系统与抽水设备相联,用泵把上层滞水(或潜水)从地下抽出,降低地下水位。一般轻型井点降低水位的深度一级为6米左右。要求降深较大时,则需多级联用。电渗井点和喷射井点都属特殊类型的小井点。由于施工繁锁和成本过高而很少使用。管井井点,不言而喻,就是利用管井抽水使地下水位降低。
