Toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) is one of the important pattern recognition receptor (PRRs) family members in innate immunity. It can specifically recognize double-stranded RNA of virus, activate host protective immune response, virus. TLR3 is mainly expressed in immune cells and can also be expressed in epithelial cells and epithelial cell-derived tumor cells. TLR3 plays an important role in pathophysiological processes such as anti-infective, inflammatory reaction and tumor progression. Female reproductive tract mucosa is an important barrier to infection of pathogenic microorganisms, TLR3 in female reproductive tract physiology, pathological changes. The role of TLR3 in the persistent infection of cervical human papillomavirus (HPV), cervical precancerous lesions and cervical cancer was reviewed.
