Ezra Pound, the literary theorist, is often fraught with paradoxes in his discourse on the substantive relationship between subjectivity and objectivity. His “subjectivity ” in literature is mainly reflected in the expression of “emotion ” in his poetry works, but Pound seems to have made a completely opposite claim that he sticks to “objective ”. This may seem contradictory. In fact, the uncertainty of Pound’s “subjectivity” and “objectivity” can be answered through his “imagery” theory. This article attempts to make some feasible attempts to defuse Pound’s master / guest paradox in an attempt to find Pound’s way of unifying Lord / Averse.
