In the past, King Herfetz Ismail was determined to modernize Egypt according to the European model. He planned to build a brand new “Paris on the Nile” on a marsh between the medieval Cairo and the Nile. Then there was a commercial area with tree-lined streets, magnificent squares, open parks, government buildings with more than twenty thousand people working in it, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building, and the famous University of Cairo (Note: Is a private aristocrat founded by Americans), especially the Brick Red Egyptian Museum, which carries 7,000 Egyptian civilizations, plus the famous Miami cinema and Metropolitan cinema. Ishmael’s wish was finally fulfilled, and walking here today is a reminder of the beautiful “Paris on the Nile” of this Hertief vision.
