日本是一个出口经济型国家,翻译的需要量很大。据日本电子工业振兴协会1982年对其所属企业所需要的翻译量进行的调查,由日语译成英语的需要72万5千页,占62.1％。由英语译成日语的需要31万4千页,占26.7％。两项共计一百万页以上,英、日两种文字的翻译,约占全部翻译量的90％左右。其他语种有:日语译成法语一万七千页、
Japan is an export-oriented country with a great demand for translation. According to a survey carried out by the Japan Electronics Industry Association in 1982 about the amount of translation required by its affiliated companies, it required 725,000 pages, in Japanese, to translate into English, accounting for 62.1% of the total. 310,000 4,000 pages were translated from English into Japanese, accounting for 26.7%.
