A total of 118 species of benthic foraminifera were found in the surface sediments of 250 stations in the CJ14 block outside the Pearl River estuary. Among them, there were 80 species of glass chitin, 21 types of porcelain chitin and 14 types of cemented chitin Species. Foraminifera abundance increases with depth. In order to study the relationship between benthic foraminifera distribution and sedimentary environment, Q-factor analysis was conducted on benthic foraminifera, and the first four main factors were selected, corresponding to four foraminiferal assemblages respectively. They explained a total of 86.2% of the total variance and basically reflected the community structure of foraminifera in the sediments. The results show that water depth and salinity are the controlling factors affecting the distribution of foraminiferal assemblages in the surface sediments of the Pearl River Estuary. Other influencing factors include sediment types, hydrodynamic conditions and sedimentation rates. Hydrodynamic conditions mainly affect the content of foraminifera; the deposition rate mainly affects the abundance of foraminifera.
