民族问题的理论是邓小平理论的重要组成部分。邓小平同志关于民族问题的理论，集中体现在１９５０年７月２１日他在欢迎赴西南地区中央民族访问团大会上的讲话《关于西南少数民族问题》一文里。作者认为，这篇讲话始终贯穿着邓小平同志解放思想、实事求是的理论精髓，并提出和阐述了一系列关于民族问题的基本理论，集中反映了他在新时期处理我国民族问题的立场、观点和方法，可以说是邓小平民族理论形成的标志。
The theory of ethnic issues is an important part of Deng Xiaoping Theory. Comrade Deng Xiaoping’s theory of nationality has been embodied in his speech on “Issues Concerning Ethnic Minorities in Southwest China” on July 21, 1950, in his speech at the General Assembly Meeting of Visitors to the Central Ethnic Minorities in the Southwest China. The author believes that this speech runs through the essence of Deng Xiaoping’s theory of emancipating the mind and seeking truth from facts. He also proposed and elaborated a series of basic theories on the ethnic issues and concentratedly reflected his positions, opinions and methods in handling the ethnic issues in our country in the new period , Can be said to be a symbol of the formation of Deng Xiaoping’s national theory.
