The original “Trial Regulations for the Design of Industrial Buildings” (JBJ5-65) stipulates that protective measures for the use of mercury sites in the production process must be made of “dense materials to make seamless surfaces.” Practice has proved that this provision is absolutely necessary, but it is not easy to truly achieve “dense and seamless.” Therefore, sufficient attention should be given to ground design. Metallic mercury is a liquid at room temperature, and because it has a large specific gravity, good conductivity, and a high boiling point, it is widely used in industrial and various types of experimental devices and meters. During production and operation, the mercury splashes on the work bench or on the ground often occur, which is certainly undesirable.
