2002年4月7日,著名华裔美国作家黄玉雪女士(Jade Snow Wong,1922—)访华,在南京接受了南京大学外国文学研究所、北京外国语大学英语学院华美文学研究中心客座研究员张子清教授的采访。黄玉雪女士素有“华裔美国文学之母”之称,是美国华裔文学中具有开拓性作用的作家。她的自传体小说《华女阿五》(The FifthChinese Daughter,1950)描写了她年轻时克服种种困难最后终于事业有成的故事,出版后获得巨大成功。该小说被翻译成多种外文,影响很大。下面这篇访谈中,黄玉雪女士详细阐述了她自己的创作思想和创作历程,对研究华美文学的读者来说,是难能可贵的文献资料。鉴于篇幅限制,本刊择要选登了访谈中相对重要的部分,以飨广大读者。
On April 7, 2002, Jade Snow Wong (1922-), a well-known Chinese American writer, visited China and received a lecture from Professor Zhang Ziqing, a visiting researcher at Nanjing University Institute of Foreign Literature and China-US Literature Research Center at Beijing Foreign Studies University, Nanjing Interview. Ms. Huang Yuxue is known as the “Mother of Chinese American Literature” and is a pioneering writer in Chinese American literature. Her fifth autobiographical novel The FifthChinese Daughter (1950) describes her successful career as a young contender for overcoming all kinds of difficulties and was a great success after it was published. The novel has been translated into many foreign languages and has a great impact. In the following interview, Ms. Huang Yuxue elaborated on her own creative thinking and creative process, which is a valuable document for readers who study Chinese and American literature. Due to space limitations, we choose to board a relatively important part of the interview in order to 飨 readers.
