东干语研究以前是俄罗斯学者和东干族学者的专利,后来日本、澳洲、欧洲的学者相继介入,取得了不少研究成果。我国是东干族的故乡,东干语的发源地,但由于历史和政治方面的原因,长期以来人们对这部分西北回民的去向及生活状况知之甚少,更谈不上对他们的语言文化进行研究了。文化大革命结束,伴随着我国和中亚五国友好合作关系的建立,不少学者走出国门,考察东干族的历史、文化、语言。 Donggan language research was formerly a Russian scholar and Donggan scholars patent, and later Japan, Australia, Europe, scholars have been involved, has made a lot of research results.
