The northern British island of Scotland, on the edge of Europe, is a place surrounded by seas on three sides: the Atlantic Ocean to the north and the North Sea to the east. Her only land border is the southern border about 96 km long along the Cheviot Hills. From a geographical point of view, Scotland can be divided into three distinct parts: the southern hills, the central lowlands, the northern highlands and islands. Southern hills crisscross the fertile plains and the many hills that border England. The highest peak in the area is only 815 meters above sea level. The lowland east of the central reaches the mouth of the Fox River (near Edinburgh) and Clyde to the west
