At present, all kinds of writings on the “Ta Kung Pao” are lacking in conclusive evidence on the study trip to Japan by the Big Three at the end of the Qing Dynasty, or they are neither detailed nor public. The author refers to the “official newspaper” founded by the Official Office of Overseas Students Administration in the late Qing government to find out some new materials that can be used to correct and supplement historical facts. This shows that: Hu Zhengzhi was not admitted to Tokyo Imperial University, but studied at the Central University, Foreign Languages School; Zhang Jianye admitted to the first higher school, did not complete their studies; Wu Dingchang completed undergraduate studies. With the help of the “Official Journal,” I believe I can understand more about the exact situation of news people in the Republic of China who stay in Japan at the end of the Qing Dynasty.
