陈树人曾译述过两部介绍西洋美术知识的著作,一为《美术概论》,另外一本是《新画法》。与吸引众多研究学者眼光的《新画法》相比,同出陈氏之手的《美术概论》则是一篇几乎被学界遗忘了的译文。因此,在本文中笔者将从《美术概论》原著的基本概况出发,挖掘陈氏翻译此部著作的社会历史背景,并试图找出其未翻译完整的深层原因。
Chen Shuren has translated two books that introduce Western art knowledge, one is “Introduction to Fine Arts,” and the other is “New Painting.” Compared with the “new method” that attracts many researchers’ eyes, the “Introduction to Art” which is similar to Chen’s is a translation that has been almost forgotten by the academic circles. Therefore, in this article, I will proceed from the basic situation of “The Introduction to Fine Arts” to find out the social and historical background of Chen’s translation of this book, and try to find out the deep reasons for her incomplete translation.
