According to data from market research firm Gartner, global shipments of smartphones surged 77.5% to 34.7 million units in the first half of this year, while PDA global shipments in the same period were 7.4 million units, an increase of 5.7%. In terms of market share, Nokia accounts for 42% of the combined PDA and smartphone market.
