《诗经》是中国最早的诗集,也是被翻译成英语最多的中文诗集。就全译本来说,重要的有1871年理雅各(James Legge)本、1937年魏理(Arthur Waley)本、1950年高本汉(Bernard Karlgren)本、1954年庞德(Ezra Pound)本。本文将主要利用这些全译本以及其他一些译文对《诗经》中的四首作品进行赏析,力图说明诗歌翻译不只是语言的问题,更重要的是理解的问题。一《周南·卷耳》是《诗经》中的名篇。据我的初步研究,最早从原文将之翻译成英文的是
The Book of Songs is the earliest collection of poems in China and the most Chinese poetry translated into English. As far as the full version is concerned, it is important that James Legge of 1871, Arthur Waley of 1937, Bernard Karlgren of 1950, and Ezra Pound of 1954 be present.
