The Status Quo of Information Science Education in Japan Over the years, the library community has been complaining that library academies can not train students who immediately adapt to the actual work of the library. Faced with this criticism, library science and informatics educators believe that the goal of education is to strengthen students’ basic theoretical knowledge, make them understand their social mission and quickly adapt to different types of library work under different conditions. However, in recent years, due to the rapid development of electronic information technology and its extensive application in library and information work, this goal has rarely been implemented in practice. Back in 1968, when Keio University Library decided to set up a two-year master’s program based on the undergraduate education of the library, undergraduate education was based on the traditional library science course, while postgraduate students focused on relevant Information science course. Students who originally graduated from non-library studies applied for postgraduate study, they first requested that they use one year to complete the library
