艺术如何融合中西?这,当然是一个有趣的提问。回首20世纪神州绘画艺术的发展,康有为在1917年的《万木草堂藏神州画目》中指出:“神州画家,至国朝而衰弊极矣……若仍保守不变,则神州画学,应遂灭尽,国人岂无英绝之士,应运而兴,合中西而为画学新纪元者,其在今乎,吾斯望之。”彼时,“合中西而为画学新纪元”即成为林风眠、徐悲鸿等大师致力破解的命题,亦成为中国画从此纠结无解的宿命。
