The development of new technologies makes it possible to genetically improve the quality of oilseed crops. The challenge now facing the rape industry is to balance the levels of various fatty acids and make them suitable for business needs. In the international market, oilseeds such as flax, sunflower and soybeans are rapeseed competitors, making the improvement of quality of rapeseed. North American product registrations require that the degree of saturation of fatty acids be reduced below 7% in order to obtain a rapeseed trademark of low-saturated fatty acids, which will play an important role in expanding the market share of rapeseed. On the other hand, the improvement of rapeseed quality is due to nutritional considerations, which require that one or more types of unsaturated fatty acids meet human needs.
