一、局域网带宽告急 由于微机和局域网(LAN)已对企业计算机应用构成了巨大影响,过去网络所认为的高传输速度,并不能满足今天迅速增长的如客户/服务器运算、E-mail、桌面视频会议和多媒体等宽带需求。目前,令牌环(Token Ring)网络被认为是最具高效率的局域网技术。令牌环网络能提供16Mbps带宽,而且由于利用令牌传送协议,即使负载带宽达到或超过95%,系统的响应时间仍可得到保证。反观以太网(Ethernet)就略显逊色:当负载带宽超过40%时,会出现竞争情况,因而耗用所有余下的带宽,使不同用户觉得系统的响应时间有极
