2004年1月26日~31日,在红星一场六连和基建连发生一起8人、两户职工因食用自制臭豆腐,出现头晕、复视等症状。经诊断为肉毒梭菌毒素中毒。这是一起重大食物中毒事件。在过去的两年中我师共发生三起食物中毒事件,死亡三人,都是肉毒中毒。引起死亡的主要原因:一是基层没有特效的治疗药物,二是因为治疗药物费用高而放弃治疗,一般一个中度中毒者治疗费用要十几万元,作为家庭也负担不起。因此预防食物中毒,尤其是预防肉毒中毒,要引起各级党委和卫生部门的高度重视。
