Objective To explore the age-appropriate value for the elderly patients with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) in our country. Methods The clinical data of 507 NHL patients with complete clinical data from January 1990 to December 2007 in Peking Union Medical College Hospital from January 1990 to December 2007 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were followed up by telephone. The deadline for follow-up was October 2008. Results The 5-year survival rates of patients less than 60 years old, 60-64 years old, 65-69 years old, 70-74 years old and older than 75 years old were 64.6%, 53.0%, 32.8%, 40.0% and 19.8%, respectively Survival rates were 45.7%, 44.1%, 17.5%, 22.8% and over 0.75 years old and 65 to 70 years old, 60 to 65 years old and under 60 years old, 65 to 70 years old and under 60 years old respectively There was significant difference between the survival rates (P <0.05). Multivariate regression analysis showed that age, serum albumin levels and hemoglobin levels have an impact on the survival status of patients. Conclusion 65 years old can be considered as the age threshold for elderly patients with NHL.
