“文革”后期,江青指示“要搞西洋音乐史”。“文化组”责成文学艺术研究所的音乐舞蹈研究室来落实这项工作,很快便组建了30多人的“西洋音乐史编写组”,领导一再强调:“这不是纯学术研究,是为阶级斗争,为政治斗争的需要。”历时三年多,终于编写出一本“以阶级斗争为纲”的《西洋音乐简史》,它代表了“文革”时期西方音乐研究的典型方法和特点。但是,“编写组”在风雨中艰难地探索、思考,却为西方音乐史研究积累了宝贵的文献资料,也为“文革”以后的外国音乐研究做了人员和学术方面的准备。
In the later “Cultural Revolution”, Jiang Qing instructed “to engage in the history of Western music.” The “Cultural Group” instructed the Institute of Literature and Art’s Music and Dance Laboratory to carry out this work.
