根据联合国开发计划署与中华人民共和国政府合作《北京蔬菜研究中心》项目计划,1982年3月13日至4月11日北京蔬菜研究中心派出四名专家赴英国考察蔬菜科研情况,重点考察英国蔬菜的遗传育种、栽培生理、保护地生产、采后生理和贮藏技术等方面当前的研究动向,采取的方法和措施,以及蔬菜科研体制和管理,参观了12个有关蔬菜科研单位,其中包括英国国立蔬菜研究站,英国温室作物研究所,英国植物育种研究所等,并收集了一些有关资料,本刊曾于1983年第一期刊载过这次考察报告。为满足广大读者的需要,现将其中一部分资料择译后刊出。同时刊登了另外几篇有关材料。除署名者外,均为北京市蔬菜研究所供稿。
