资阳灯影组二、三段储层的形成与岩石微相和微相组合密切相关。该段主要由12种岩石微相及5种微相组合叠加而成,其中浅色的微晶白云岩、亮晶砂屑白云岩、微亮晶鲕粒白云岩及部分藻叠层白云岩是最有利于储层形成的岩石微相,它们多分布于各微相组合的中上部。岩石微相及微相组合在垂向上的频繁叠加导致储层在纵向上具有层数多、单层厚度不大的特点;平面上,以资3、7井为中心的区块1和以资4井为中心的区块2是有利于储层形成的岩石微相及微相组合地区。
