Objective: To investigate the role of blood and urine endothelin in chronic nephritis. Methods: The levels of endothelin (ET), urinary endothelin (UET) and endogenous creatinine clearance (Ccr) in normal and chronic glomerulonephritis patients were measured. Results: All patients with PET, UET levels were elevated. There was a correlation between UET and pathological grade, but there was no correlation between PET and pathological grade. CONCLUSION: Endothelin is involved in the progression of chronic glomerulonephritis. Urinary endothelin can reflect renal pathological damage more clearly than blood endothelin and can reflect the degree of renal tubular injury. It is an indicator of renal tubular dysfunction
